3)Good investment—retro cars, especially for car connoisseurs, provide a good value especially if restored to its original state. Like any other antiques, retro cars increased value especially if it last longer.
4)Good avenues for retro car owners— owning a retro car is not only isolated to your case, but also to others who feel the same love as you do. Numerous retro car clubs exists to not only show off their retro cars, but also to show how they really love their hobbies. From there, potential retro car fans are not only treated to some good eye candy through the numerous exhibits and fairs out there, but also more improvements from expert retro car owners on how to manage your rides.
5)Owning a part of History—people tend to collect retro cars not just for as a hobby, but also out of the curiosity on how people in the past drive without the benefit of modern car marvels such as guided parking, GPS, and power steering. Also, some collects out of sentimental value, such as relieving memories of a father and son driving on a favorite retro car into the countryside or just for the joy of owning one.

While a majority of people often buys modern cars, there are a considerable number of car connoisseurs who still cling to a more retroactive style of cars. We can never explain why, but these people often choose retro cars rather than buy the new ones out of the market. While the market is rich with new, expensive but reliable models, retro car owners would go out of their way and would even cross half the country just to get their hands on an older car.
I interviewed a number of retro car owners, and I was able to come up with a list of why we should favor older but still operational models.
1)Unique driving experience—old cars may have no power steering and depends on a strength-based, effortful driving regimen, but its good experience if you like driving it the hard way.
2)Reliability—once fully restored to its former glory, a retro car can be a smooth ride to take. While it doesn’t have the convenience found in newly manufactured cars, retro cars can run and perform as well, if not far better, than the modern alternative. Remember, during the old days, cars and other items were built to last and this is obvious in retro cars.

Many of the people today love turning back time; those times when they were still young and become intrigued with the car technologies that are occurring during those days. For sure, many of them love to have cars during those days but the problem is that they were a way unaffordable.
As of these days, those cars have already become vintage and classic and yet, many people still want to have one, wouldn’t you? In fact, many of those vintage cars do not actually run so well and most of the time they come with different types of maintenance issues. Comparing these vintage cars to the cars of today, you will see that they are less smooth when one seats inside and drive it on the streets.
However, there is another good idea that you can try and that is through buying brand new cars that feature the classic and vintage look you really love. As of these days, Ford Motors offers a retro car that looks like a T-Bird during the yesteryears. Although it features the looks of a yesteryear T-bird, this particular car from Ford comes with a brand new make and is a little sleeker, and actually looks cool.
Both Chevy and Chrysler also come up with muscle cars that appear to be like the retro Camaro and Challenger, albeit a bit more beefy. With these types of retro cars, you will be able to enjoy different types of amenities that will surely make you feel as if you are actually using those vintage cars of the old days.
These new retro cars actually come with whistles and bells, thus making your driving experience a truly enjoyable and fun. With these kinds of cars, you will also have the chance to dock your iPhone or iPod in your car’s docking station. There’s also a place for your satellite radio and even your Garmin Globe Positioning System device.

Aside from the fact that these beefy cars come with many exciting features to offer, they are considered to be economical in terms of gas or fuel too. They too are a way gentler on older human frames, come with airbags, and a much better way on handling them compared to the ones, which have dominated the era of the old days.

If you are someone who belongs to a club of classic cars, they will definitely love your car because you something that has not been built during the 50’s, 60’s, and the early parts of the 70’s.

Owning and maintaining retro cars entail serious investments on both money and time. But, very few can match the thrill and excitement of being able to restore antique cars to their original state and drive them on the open road. Retro cars especially those that have been meticulously brought back can really fetch a very high price, that is if the owner wants to sell them. You see, owning an antique car is a matter of pride. Anybody who has the money can buy the latest most expensive cars but not just anybody can buy a dilapidated old clunker, spend an enormous amount of time rebuilding it, and bring the old car back to life. That is what makes retro cars very expensive.
Owning such a unique type of asset is a source of delight for old car enthusiasts and to make sure that they are perfectly safe, most antique car owners get insurance coverage for their antique cars. If you are one of those who are interested in getting insurance coverage for your retro car, it is best that you pay very close attention the inclusions on the insurance policy being offered to you. You have to be aware that many insurance companies are wary on providing insurance coverage for antique cars and their policies can be quite restrictive in many ways. First off, check out the reputation of the insurance company on your list. Dependability is of utmost importance when choosing the insurance company for your retro car especially when the time comes that you need to claim. The method by which an insurance company offers its services during potential claims is essential in selecting the insurance provider for your antique car. do not hesitate to ask questions when some portions of the policy seem to be vague to you because in the end, you do not want to end up with a wrecked antique car and an insurance policy that does not cover the kind of incident you have been involved with.
Know how the insurance company you would like to insure your retro car to process claims and the extra provisions and clauses that they have for retro cars like yours. Some insurance companies will only insure an antique car if it has retained a certain amount of the original parts and details so you have to determine the percentage of originality of your car before you deal with these insurance companies.

They keep coming back, these old cars. There is no way you can put a good car down, that is what they always say and retro cars have always been a fad for car enthusiasts, celebrities, and your everyday Joe. So, when you feel your heart pounding whenever you see Speed Six Bentley Tourers, which were built in 1926, Gran Torinos, 1957 Chevies, and Shelby Mustangs, boy, you have that retro car fever in you.
Why do people love vintage or retro cars? Well, men always been innately mesmerized with items that are old and are still working, especially the ones that can be considered as very valuable in the future. It helps us understand the future better. For example, explorers and archeologists are continuously searching for treasures and artifacts from civilizations of long ago and when they find them, they do, they spend money and time to restore them to their original form if it can still be done. The same is true when searching for old cars and exhausting all efforts to bring them back to their original state. For collectors and car lovers, owning retro cars is no different than owning a little bite of history.
Another reason why many people are hooked into retro cars is because it provides a sense of uniqueness and individuality. Anybody who has money can buy the latest and the most modern of cars, yet not everyone can possess a true retro car. It is like fashion, people can buy the same garments, which artists and entertainers wear, they go shopping in the same shops, and watch the very same shows on television, but owning something vintage particularly a car can really set a person apart from the norm. I have met retro car owners who regularly use their BMWs and Benzes but on special occasions or when they just want to travel back in time and reminisce the old days, the retro car acts as their time machine. To them, very few experiences can beat cruising down the country highway with Elvis or Frank Sinatra blaring on the classic radio of their classic car. Now that’s authentic nostalgia at its finest.
As what John Walsh uttered that a retro car is regarded as an ownership, lastingness and solidity, and having few real possessions in a more and more virtual world.” A lot of retro car collectors will attest to the fact that restoring and collecting old cars can provide sheer joy especially if the car rolls down the road once again.

Every now and then, we see something that reminds us of our past, the fun that we had and other amazing experiences associated with whatever we saw.

Volkswagen Type 1

For me, some of my most memorable adventures were with my good old reliable Volks Beetle, one of the most enduring retro cars of anybody’s lifetime.
The Beetle is for me the most durable retro car of all time. Its engineering design is ahead of its time; its features are slick and its operation simple. In addition, what is great about the Beetle is that there are still an ample supply of its parts and accessories so it is easy to reconstruct your favorite Beetle. You can still see a lot of this astounding retro car running around in perfect driving condition.
If you are into retro cars and you want to see more of the old stuff brought back to life once again, you have to be at the annual Race Retro.

914-6 Porsche

In their last event, I ogled on a lot of retro cars that were not present in last year’s event. The Jamiroquai (no, not the artist) 914-6 Porsche showed that it still had the muscle while the Holden Chevy with its 5.o liter engine was destroying the eardrums of those within twenty feet of it with its loud revs. In the same event, those who love to collect retro cars had their fill when Silverstone Auctions sold off assorted vehicles including the Lotus Cortina F1 racer, which fetched at 80,000 pounds. I caught a glimpse of, if I am not mistaken, a JXC 808D, which was rallied in the 1970 Marathon de la Route. It still looked as formidable now as it looked back then. Transformed into a beast machine, the JXC 808D led the race by almost 50 miles. Unfortunately, due to the uncontrollable vibrations in its prop shaft, the car had to be retired.

Lotus Cortina F1

Like everyone else, I enjoy driving the smooth ride that the new cars bring. They are all about speed and comfort combined. People nowadays love the feel of comfort coupled with silence and do, too. However, once in a while, you feel the pressure surging and you feel the wind hitting your face again, you want to hear the roar of that old engine burning the fuel mercilessly. In addition, this kind of feeling can only be attained when you step on the gas pedal of a good old retro car, the car that we all grew up with.

According to many people who consider themselves as car enthusiasts, having something new is not really a cool thing all the time. For cars, it is all about becoming retro and this is not a different thing with autos and cars. May Starey and Stuart Milne now present the SEMA 2009 retro cars.

Every year, a not so big but not so small trade show is conducted in the exhibition center situated in the center of LA. In fact, Los Angeles is open to such kinds of trade shows and this is going to be a good opportunity for people within LA and other car enthusiasts in the neighboring countries. With such events, car enthusiasts can flock to these events and see for themselves about the currently celebrated retro cars of the present days.

In fact, SEMA 2009 presented the retro car collections and named them as the wildest cars of the present world. SEMA is an event wherein one can see some of the world’s best and the most attractive modified cars. This is also an event wherein you will see what are to be expected in the coming year.

From the things that have been seen by many people in the SEMA event, one of the must have accessories for the coming year is a bright paint – a bright paint that will definitely scorch your eyes at five hundred paces. The brighter the car would seem to look when the bright paint is accompanied by a set of chrome rims that are oversized and this one seems to look much better, indeed!

During the SEMA event, people have had the opportunity to see different car models projecting themselves as something retro. The different car models have created a great buzz among American viewers who have been there to witness the event.

Some of the leading car choices, which have been selected by many car enthusiasts, include Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers. In fact, the modifiers do not care about the act of modifying cars even when they are new or old as long as they are all modified for the purpose of looking retro.

Now, if in case you have not heard all about SEMA yet then there is nothing for you to worry about. Some sites are available today to show some of the most outrageous and sexiest retro cars of the present days. Check them out and see for yourselves!

John Baughman has been working hard and quietly on his Baughman’s Auto Salvage yard on Dover for some years and had loved the yard so much. But his yard has to go and he can’t do anything to change City Hall’s decision.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible

What is special about Baughman’s Auto Salvage was the cars that he have found lying on the yard years ago when he arrived at the place. He was moved and became so excited and bought the salvage yard out of his lifetime savings.
It was some 40 years ago when the yard has nothing but crops and farm pastures. The yard was then known as C&B Salvage yard. But time has changed and neighborhood begun sprouting like mushrooms in the vicinity. With odd mixture of growing country houses and salvage yard, one has to go. And it is the salvage yard that has to go. It is now due to close.
Baughman’s did his best to appease the neighborhood and the local board by doing some cleaning and fixing but everything did not work. The select group of people who built their homes near the yard, which has been a half century old, is trying to make the closing done in the quickest time possible. Baughman Auto Salvage has until Dec. 31 of this year to close the yard.
Baughman is trying to save the majority of the yard’s inventory that has not been sold but all must go to the crasher. However he was able to get permission to transfer anything that’s rare or desirable to his another operated salvage yard located which is only 10 miles away from Dover. All that will not be sold will be most likely to go to his Dover salvage yard.

John Baughman, owner of Baughman's Auto Parts in York, PA. John's other yard, Baughman's Salvage Yard in Dover, PA., is closing, 900 cars will be crushed and cleared from the property.

Most of these are vehicles from 1960′s era and the newest. Most of these counting to more than a thousand vehicles have been there when brothers Carl and Bob was the operating owners. Baughman did not move any car into the yard.
Amazing collections of the yard include 1957 Chevrolet Bel- Air Sport Coupe and some other tri-Chevy models and convertibles and Nomads. Foreign sport cars in the yard that include 1950′s MGA roadster still having its original knock-off wire wheels are another great treasures of the yard.
Old Cars magazine has interviewed John Baughman, his flight has been circulating among retro cars lovers, and some restoration group has send messages filled with interest. When asked how he was able to find the salvage yard, Baughman is all smiles and just say, it’s a case of word-of- mouth from friends.
Now word-of-mouth is spreading the future of the salvage yard and the future of those classic cars waiting to get restoration.

Bring back your nostalgic past and relive those days when Afros and psychedelics were the order of the day by setting up your own retro car. Retro cars are our way of handing down some of the features of our culture to the next generation. They are the signatures of our way of life back then. It is so easy to buy the latest top of the line car nowadays but it will always be a challenge to restore an old car back to its original classy form. Retro cars will make you stand above the rest, not the newest trendiest automobile which anybody can buy.

Each year, an exhibition center in Los Angeles hosts a trade show called SEMA and it is an event about retro cars. In here is where you will see the wildest, best dressed retro cars in the world. Yes, you will feast your eyes on scorching red paints and oversized chrome rims. See modified Mustangs,Challengers, and Camaros. The recent SEMA convention herded in one of the most amazing 1962 Ford Fairlane I have ever seen in this side of retro world. Prepped with a single tail light and a centered fin, the Fairlane lived up to my expectation as the best turning point car of the recent century.

Back to the retro cars and away from the event, it is undeniable that the most enduring survivor of the past century is the Volkswagen Beetle. You would be amazed on the number of original Beetles still plying the road today, many of them as roadworthy as the next new Civic or Corolla. And the great thing about the VW Beetle is that they are astoundingly affordable, with parts and accessories still accessible. In fact, there are over a hundred forums maintained by VW Beetle owners all over the world and if you are an avid collector or if you are maintaining one, you would find it interesting to join these discussions and learn a few things that you may still do not know about your Volkswagen Beetle, and you can also share your experiences on the handling and preservation of these amazing retro cars.

The retro look has always kept the Volkswagen afloat in the used car section as more and more people are becoming interested in the restoration of old cars. Retro cars remind us of so ma y things that have been considered as family tradition.
